ASSOCIATION OF COSMETIC PRACTITIONERS OF BRITAIN (ACPB)

Inspectorate of Injectables Based Aesthetic Practice

Despite a growing awareness for the need for public facing transparency with regards to practitioner competency within the field of aesthetic medicine, there is currently no national register (voluntary or otherwise) for non-medical practitioners of injectables- a field of practice for which these non-medical personnel are legally entitled to operate.

Confounding the issue further, there are currently no licensing or other checks on the quality or standard of any such practitioners, nor is there any statutory requirement for such. As non-medical injectors continue to practice within the sector, unhindered by the current lack of legislation, this has created a need for action to help protect and inform public awareness.

The ACPB was launched to do just that- to provide a register for non-medical injectors that could evidence conformity against the latest cosmetic standards (CPSA, ACPB etc.). Working in partnership with ACPB, IQ Verify have developed an all encompassing audit checklist to ensure compliance against the latest standards of injectable practice. Applicant practitioners are required to use this ACPB checklist to self-assess their compliance at their primary place of work against five key categories:

  • Policy and Procedural Requirements
  • Equipment and Treatment Room Requirements
  • Practitioner Requirements
  • Treatment Requirements
  • (NEW) Infection Control Requirements (Covid-19 Compliance)

Where omissions are identified against the below checklists, the practitioner is advised to implement corrective actions accordingly. Completed checklists are to be sent through to ACPB to allow for the scheduling of the subsequent on-site audit with IQ Verify. An independent and trained auditor will then be allocated to the application and a 0.5 day audit conducted that assesses the validity of the information provided at self-assessment and compliance with these standards. ACPB will use the IQ Verify audit reports to issue a certificate of compliance against the ACPB standards. Should improvement actions be required prior to certification, ACPB will support the applicant to implement the necessary adjustments to conform to these ACPB standards.

It is the hope of ACPB and IQ Verify that through providing an objective measure of better practice, practitioners will be empowered to implement meaningful and guideline aligned improvements to the direct benefit of the clients they treat. Through the incorporation of Covid-19 related measures, we hope to help practitioners and clinics alike update their protocol to get back on their feet following the recent period of lockdown.

We at IQ Verify proudly support this ACPB initiative to raise safety through standards and audit.
